More than a hundred thousand dollars in gold was sitting in the express office in Black River, ready to be shipped East. But a gang of outlaws had already plotted to rob the entire shipment before it ever left the express office.

The Lone Ranger and Tonto also heard of the huge gold shipment and, suspicious of a possible robbery attempt, were riding hard toward Black River. As they took a short cut across the deadly area known as the Devil's Bog they found an old man left to die...the first victim of the impending gold robbery, shot and dumped into quicksand.

With danger dogging their every move the Lone Ranger and Tonto race into what turns out to be the most thrilling and dangerous of all their exploits.
