"Crack his skull!" yelled Snake

Fate guides the Lone Ranger and his Indian friend, Tonto, to a mountain cave for shelter in a storm. Their grim discovery in that cave marks the beginning of events that ultimately save the nation.

Rodney Dornick, while enjoying the respect of his fellow townsmen of Bitter Spring, is secretly working out a fanatically ambitious and diabolically clever plot to seize for himself all the land west of the Mississippi.

Pitted against Dornick and his ruthless gang are the only three persons who realize that terrible danger threatens the nation––the Lone Ranger, Tonto, and the mysterious Operator Ten. Not until Dornick catches the Lone Range in a trap which, sprung, would cause the masked man to be hanged by the very forces of law he has so long defended, do the men of Texas awake to their danger. The outcome of the battle and the Lone Ranger's part in it make a story no reader will be able to put down until he has finished it.
